Our Last Halloween

Story:

'Our Last Halloween' is a stylized 2D mobile horror game that has you play as 3 teens attending a Halloween house party where they each encounter a different supernatural event, and you have to make choices and complete various minigames to learn more about the story and see if you can keep everyone alive until daybreak.

Inspirations:

Gameplay took a lot of inspiration from games like Until Dawn, Choices: Stories You Play, Florence and Doki Doki Literature Club, and the Art Style from many stylized games or comics such as the Scott Pilgrim series, or Oxenfree.

My Role & Collaborators:

As this was a solo project, I worked on almost all aspects of the game (Story Writing, Dialogue, Artwork, UI, Animation, Programming, and Audio Programming). The parts I didn't work however were the music and sound design, for which I was lucky enough to collaborate with 2 very talented individuals - Jack McKenzie (Composer) & Luke Barnfather (Sound Design). All of those who were also kind enough to help me in any way throughout the project, from coding advice to reading over my initial scripts, are named in the Special Thanks section of the game's Credits.

Above, you can watch a short trailer for the game's first chapter. I am still working on chapters 2 & 3, and plan to release as soon as possible.

Below is some artwork, code excerpts, initial sketches from the game, as well as some screenshots of the unity project and FMOD project to show how I structured my work.

You can also play Chapter 1 for yourself here for free: commandershizzle.itch.io/our-last-halloween-chapter-1

In February 2022, I'm delighted to say that the game was awarded second place in Pocket Gamer Connects' Very Big Indie Pitch competition. Read more about it here:
